KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Close interaction with the Afghans residing in Parwan and Kapisa provinces is part of a normal day for the Airmen assigned to the Bagram Provincial Reconstruction Team. Part of that interaction includes the assistance the Kohistan II District Afghanistan national police received Jan. 25.
"Working with ANP in the different districts is more than part of our mission; it is a great opportunity for all involved to learn from each other," Tech. Sgt. Francis Warren, Police Technical Advisory Team non-commissioned officer in charge said. "While we are going through different procedures and tactics, they are asking about various situations and scenarios they face where the training can be applied."
The class conducted, Jan. 25, consisted of handcuffing techniques, individual searches and vehicle inspections.
"The assistance we provide is another resource the ANP leadership can use to help their personnel with policing and providing security to their areas," Warren said.
Mouhammed Naieem, Kohistan II District chief of police, said the training was especially useful for searching vehicles and provided additional techniques for handcuffing and personnel searches.
The Bagram PRT has worked with and mentored an estimated 1,700 ANP during the last 10 months.
"They help us a lot, the Kohistan II people, and we have a good relationship with each other," Naieem said.
