U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District - MVS

Rivers Project Intern, Sarah Holder explains how the Lake Sturgeon are monitored using a receiver that recognized the acoustic telemetry tags placed in species of reproductive size. Data collected is used to determine species movement, age, and other variables. A specialized team of fisheries biologist tag and track Lake Sturgeon throughout the state of Missouri to study where they have travel before and after they reproduce in hopes of pinpointing specific habitats to protect.
