Syracuse, NY - Hancock Field News provides the the latest news pertaining to the 174th Attack Wing, U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), United States Air Force, Air National Guard and the Central New York community. This past month the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services advanced Heather Wilson’s confirmation as the next Secretary of the Air Force. The United States Senate will now vote on Heather Wilson. The New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing executed a dramatic rescue at sea as Pararescueman made night jumps into the sea to board a burning ship and rescue its crew. And members of the 174th welcomed home WWII and Korean War Veterans after the Honor Flight Syracuse 9th mission.
The daily mission on Hancock Field Air National Base is to provide qualified airmen and weapon systems to joint global air, space and cyberspace operations, in support of homeland defense, and to aid civil authorities at the direction of New York Governor. We are home to a number of diverse and unique missions, including the 174th Attack Wing’s MQ-9 combat operations mission, MQ-9 aircrew training mission, MQ-9 maintenance training mission and the 152nd Air Operations Group’s air operations center mission.
