My name is A1C Quortez Dorsey. On December 28th, 2013, I made the worst decision of my life. It all began when I went out with friends and had several drinks. I had decided to stay at a friend's house. First thing in the morning I decided I was sober enough to drive myself home. About 100 feet from home, I blacked out when making a right turn, hit a curb, and ricocheted off a tree, causing my vehicle to flip. That was only the beginning.
I had to face my entire chain of command. I lost my promotion to staff sergeant, I lost my base driving privileges and so much more. Most of all, I'm very lucky I didn't kill anyone or myself. The only good result was being forced into the Air Force Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment program. I have learned from my mistake. I am happy to still be in the Air Force, and able to share my story to prevent other from making the same mistake I did. I know I'm the only one responsible for my actions and the consequences of those actions. You do not have to go through what I did. Learn from my mistakes. Also available in high definition.
