Soldiers with the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) and US Marines with India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (BLT 3/5), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU) conduct an Assault Amphibian Vehicle (AAV) surf qualification on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan as part of the Japanese Observer Exchange Program. The JGSDF soldiers worked side-by-side with the Marines of Lima Company, BLT 3/5, 31st MEU, as part of the JOEP which consists of a wide range of bilateral events focusing on familiarization of large scale amphibious operations.
