Video by Airman 1st Class Jarrod Vickers

    22nd Air Refueling Wing

A white glove folds the final crease in the American flag before it’s handed to the next of kin. The most memorable moment for a widowed spouse or grieving family may very well be the air force honor guard rendering their final honors, and it’s people like airman 1st Class London Brown that leave that lasting impression.

Tsgt Williams: (9:13) I tell him all the time, I mean “you’re sharp. I’m a full believer that you can never tell a person enough how awesome they are, and that dude is awesome at his job.

Airman brown is at McConnell as a part of the air force honor guard mobile training team that travels from base-to-base making sure their drill and ceremony maneuvers are uniform across the Air Force.

A1C brown: they’re already a sharp team, but we want to make them even sharper.

Although this is what he gets paid to do, being an honor guardsman is way more than just a job.

A1C Brown: (3:20ish) before I entered the Air Force, my uncle who was in the Army passed away on a motorcycle accident. Seeing that honor guard? Really hit home for me and it told me when the opportunity came, this is what i wanted to do. It was so sharp.

Now he has the opportunity to return the favor for families going through hard times. Although today’s drills were only practice, the attention to detail is always present to make sure they’re doing the best they can to honor the fallen.

A1c Brown: (7:40) Air Force Honor Guard, base honor guard, it’s not just a job. We all take pride in it. Recognize those men and women who are out there delivering those military honors. They’re doing something very, very special.

With this visit, Airman Brown can display the importance of military honors by helping to train the Airmen who will impact those families just like the army honor guard did for him. Airman 1st class Jarrod Vickers. Mcconnell Air Force Base, Kansas.
