Almost 70 years ago rugby, a game that combines the brute strength of football with the extreme stamina of soccer, found a foothold in the Middle East with the creation of the Kuwait Scorpions Rugby Football Club. The sport reached an historical milestone on Valentine's Day 2014 when the Kuwait Scorpions played against the U.S. Army Eagles, a developmental team founded less than three months ago by Soldiers from the 143rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), an Army Reserve Unit headquartered in Orlando, Fla. Army Sgt. John Carkeet brings us inside Kuwait University stadium to see how 80 minutes of tries, kicks, scrums and mauls led to a mutual partnership on the pitch. Includes sound bites from Abdulazeez Sadeqi, Chairman/Scrum Half, Kuwait Scorpions Rugby Club; Maj. John J Turner, Knowledge Management Officer, 143rd ESC and Head Coach, U.S. Army Eagles and Maj. John J. Adams, Chief Public Affairs, 143rd ESC and Fullback, U.S. Army Eagles. Also available in high definition.
