HONOLULU - Cmdr. Amy Cocanour, chief of response for Sector Honolulu, reads a proclamation by Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie announcing the beginning National Safe Boating Week in Hawaii, May 20. 2011. Members of the Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Honolulu Fire Department, Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation, and Hawaii Sail and Power Squadron attended the press briefing and participated in a lifejacket inflation demonstration. A search and rescue demonstration by an aircrew piloting an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Barbers Point concluded the press briefing. The news feature documenting a SAR case was a collaboration between the 14th Coast Guard District, Air Station Barbers Point, Station Honolulu and Hawaii News Now. The feature documents a scenario of a Coast Guard search for a missing surfer and includes the deploying of a rescue swimmer, a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium and an aircrew piloting an HC-130 Hercules aircraft dropping supplies to the surfer.
