The Eighth Coast Guard District held a change of command ceremony where Rear Adm. Mary E. Landry relieved Rear Adm. Joel R. Whitehead as the commander of the Eighth Coast Guard District Friday, June 5, 2009. After 34 years of service Rear Adm. Whitehead retired and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal by Adm.
