YERBA BUENA ISLAND, Calif. -- The Coast Guard, in cooperation with the South San Francisco Fire Department, Coast Guard Auxilary and Oyster Point Harbormaster, conducted a search and rescue demonstration outside the Oyster Point Marina.
The drill included an HH-65 helicopter from Air Station San Francisco responding to a distressed vessel, the Coast Guard Auxilary vessel "Lifesavers", and lowering a rescue swimmer to hoist a victim from the water. South San Francisco Fire Department and Oyster Point Harbormaster vessels then demonstrated a vessel assist, to transfer an injured victim from the distressed vessel, extinguished the fire and towed the distressed vessel into Oyster Point Harbor.
The purpose of the demonstration was to bring emergency responders together to exercise a unified response for the upcoming boating season. (U.S. Coast Guard video by Petty Officer 3rd Class Erik J. Swanson)
