  • Before 101st Airborne Division Commanding General Maj. Gen. James C. McConville led the Screaming Eagles into Afghanistan in 2013, he encouraged the Fort Campbell hospital leadership to expand services for Soldiers with behavioral health concerns and brain injuries.

McConville returned to Blanchfield Army Community Hospital recently to see the progress.

As McConville checked out the construction of the National Intrepid Center of Excellence Satellite site, he said he was pleased that Fort Campbell will soon have expanded treatment capabilities for traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress capabilities.

"I think this is very important because it's making sure our Soldiers get world class care and this center is going to provide that type of care," said McConville.

McConville was equally happy to see the behavioral health support now offered within each brigade combat team's footprint.

"We want to have the care right where the Soldiers are, within close proximity to where the Soldiers work. This makes it much more available so they will actually use the care."

As the 101st Airborne Division commander, McConville said he is proud to be a part of such a great community at Fort Campbell.

"I think we're very blessed to be in the 101st Airborne Division and serve at Fort Campbell. We have fabulous Soldiers and a wonderful community that supports us in every way they can. The support that the medical personnel give our Soldiers is just world class," said McConville.
