Watch-standers at the Coast Guard First District received a report at approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday from the seismic research vessel WG Cook of a 58-year-old male suffering from chest pains.

A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and an HU-25 Guardian aircraft crew were immediately launched.

The Jayhawk crew arrived on scene and safely hoisted the man from the WG Cook.

He was taken to awaiting EMS at Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis, Mass., and transferred to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis.

As America's maritime first responder, the Coast Guard frequently conducts maritime medical evacuations. In an average year, the Coast Guard conducts more than 20 medical evacuations in the Northeast.
