SGT Ena Torres Air Defense Enhanced Early Warning System Operator Duty Station: Fort Hood, Texas Hometown: Orlando, Fla. Soldier Show Performer
Born on Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City, SGT Ena Torres grew up in a musical family in Orlando, Fla. Her uncle, a karaoke DJ, delivered a karaoke machine to the Torres household. “You could say it was in my blood,” Ena said. “As long as I can remember, we’ve just been singing.” The clarinet, bassoon, tenor sax and piano are part of her repertoire and she yearns to learn guitar. She was a member of the concert and marching bands at Cypress Creek High School, and a vocalist in her church choir. In 2005, she performed in a regionally televised “The Singing Christmas Trees” program at First Baptist Orlando. Torres, 26, advanced to the finals of the local 2011 Operation Rising Star singing contest at Fort Hood, Texas. Her musical influences come from Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Evanescence. “I am super excited to make the show,” Torres said. “This is the biggest thing I’ve ever done.”
