JBER, Alaska : A destructive wind storm swept through parts of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, damaging buildings, 12 vehicles and overturning a contractor box-truck September 19. While the actual wind-speed was not recorded, several witnesses believed it was more than 100 miles-per-hour and tossed plywood and other debris as high as 250 feet in the air. While no one was injured from the wind gusts, initial estimates are report thousands of dollars worth of damage to personal, contracted and military property. Available in High Definition.

  • B-roll of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson fire fighters are battled a fire that damaged building 9386 here. There are no reported injuries from the fire, which was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. this evening and deemed under control at 9:20 p.m. All occupants of the building have been accounted for, according to base fire officials. JBER officials are currently making plans to relocate the building's occupants to other lodging facilities. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Produced by Staff Sgt.
