In April 1915 Australian and New Zealand troops landed on Gallipoli peninsula, turkey to try and take control of access to the Black Sea during World War I. Though the attempt failed the heroics and valor of these men became legendary. They are known as ANZACS a combination of the Australian and New Zealand army corps.
    Story):
United states pacific command honored its allies by marking the 97th anniversary of the ANZAC landing with a wreath laying ceremony at the national memorial cemetery of the pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii…
“Through this commemoration… anticipated the cost”- Scott Dewar, Consul General, Australian Consulate-General, Honolulu.
More than 11,000 ANZAC troops died in the attack on Gallipoli. Since then ANZAC day has come to represent all sacrifices by New Zealand and Australian troops over the years. Anzac day also honors the allies they have fought alongside from world war one to the present day.
