As U.S. troops prepare to drawdown their footprint in Iraq, the highways they travel on to accomplish this mission are lined with depris, enabling IEDs to be hidden within. The Iraqi highway patrol and soldiers from the First Brigade, First Cavalry Division secure and clean the route to ensure EFPs and IEDs are not placed on the sides of the road.
