Package on Agricultural Development for Afghanistan Pre-Deployment Training (ADAPT). USDA ADAPT teaches deploying civilians, NGO's and military how to teach Afghans a better way of farming to create better crop output. Students spent a week in the classroom and in the fields at CSU Fresno's campus learning these skills.

VA dedicates building to civil affairs Soldier
The Long Beach VA Medical Center dedicated their new Blind Rehabilitation Center to Maj. Charles Robert Soltes, Jr. Soltes was the first optometrist killed in action while serving on active duty. He died from injuries sustained in an IED attack in Iraq in 2004. Soltes served as a public health officer with the 426th Civil Affairs Battalion.
