 Fort Bliss welcomes the El Paso Marathon
More than 400 runners gathered in the early morning hours of Feb. 5 to participate in the sixth annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon. Undeterred by the cold temperatures and fierce winds at the Trans-Mountain Road starting point, the mood was upbeat as they huddled together, each a little anxious to get started on the 26.2-mile course.

Hester discusses his mission to educate local Afghans in health issues and how to improve their quality of life. Hester and the 1-25th SBCT are deployed to southern Kandahar province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

William Montgomery, Task Force Arctic Wolves’ Afghan National Security Forces Development non-commissioned officer in charge, talks with Winn Mete, the host of radio show "Base Alpha-Kilo," about the Afghan National Army Operation Hope Hero 58 and the success of the Afghan Security Forces in Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, Afghanistan. The 1st Brigade, 205th Afghan National Army Corps, conducted their first independently planned and executed operation Dec. 17-23, 2011. The operation included Afghan Uniformed Police, Afghan National Defense Services and Afghan National Civil Order Police. Afghan forces discovered IEDs, weapons and illegal narcotics during the operation, but most of all, they earned the trust of the local residents.
