With only a few items remaining, members of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74 Detail (DET) SOCAFRICA: Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti (CLDJ) have been charging hard and are in the final stages of constructing of a facility being built to contain communication equipment.
Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 74, Detachment (DET) Niger, worked in support of the multinational exercise known as Flintlock 2014. Located near Niamey, Niger, Africa, this DET played a crucial role in allowing Flintlock 2014 to start on-time, assisting in the construction of multiple office spaces, a galley space, and housing for the 300 personnel who participated in the combined exercise.
For the final major concrete placement of their Operational Multi-Use (OMU) Facility, all hands were on deck.
The concrete was called in to place a major beam known as a bond beam, a vital part of the roof structure, which supports the roofing system and ties in the reinforced concrete columns, resulting in significant structural strength to the OMU.
