North Dakota National Guard biathletes win regional competition The North Dakota National Guard biathlon team entered this weekend’s regional competition with a bit of pessimism. A few of the team’s top biathletes couldn’t attend, and two others left after the first day’s race to compete overseas. Nevertheless, the success of recent years continued, and the team pulled off a win at the Central Region Biathlon Competition at Mt. Itasca, near Grand Rapids, Minn. Soldier to return after serving 29 months in Kosovo After deploying with Kosovo Force 12 in August 2009, the North Dakota National Guard's Sgt. Josh Dodds is returning to North Dakota after a 29-month deployment. Dodds, of Grand Forks, N.D., has spent the past two years serving as part of the NATO peacekeeping operations after volunteering to extend his original Kosovo deployment.
