On 22 April 2012, United States Armed Forces, Philippine Armed Forces, and civilians conducted a tour aboard United States Naval Ship U.S.S. Denver off shore Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Republic of the Philippines, as part of Exercise Balikatan 2012 humanitarian and civic assistance projects. Balikatan is an annual bilateral training exercise aimed at improving combined planning, contingency, humanitarian assistance and disaster relieve operations between the two partner nations.
