Self-redeploying units reach Four CornersSelf-Redeploying Units Reach Four Corners
The Four Corners Operation, operated by the 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 230th Sustainment Brigade, was a busy site when the first customers arrived from Iraq. The multi-class download site received four convoys redeploying from Iraq, Oct. 18, 2011. Members of the 2-29 Field Artillery Battalion from Fort Bliss, Texas, were some of the first troops to self-redeploy from Iraq since the directive to reduce the presence of U.S. forces in that country was publicized.


Air Delivery SymposiumAir Delivery Symposium
The 824th Quartermaster Company Detachment 10, assigned to the 553rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion hosted the fifth Bi-Annual Theater Aerial Delivery Symposium. The four-day event took place at the Al Udeid Air Base beginning April 4.


Demil OperationsDemilitarization Operation
A joint demilitarization operation was conducted on April 21. Units participating in the operation included the 452nd Ordnance Company, a Reserve unit based out of Aberdeen, S.D., 319th Explosive Ordnance Disposal, a National Guard unit from Camp Murray, Wash. and United States Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 6 from Virginia Beach, Va. The operation ensured all Condition Code E and Condition Code H (unserviceable) ammunition were properly disposed of in the most efficient manner.
