41st IBCT 2/162 Volunteers participate in a multi-agency project

U.S. Soldiers visit Iraqi school
Oregon National Guard members, deployed in Iraq, partook in a unique mission where they were able to make a positive impact on the hearts and minds of local national children from a small village in southern Iraq. As the Soldiers brought supplies, gifts, and other resources for their school, Oct. 27, loving looks and thankfulness filled the area. (11/16/09)
See your dentist on deployment On LSA Adder, Capt. Nathan Woods, takes care of local troops as well as those on outlying forward operating bases, or FOBs. While the office on Adder is well-equipped, bright, and sterile, not every FOB has the resources to provide such a facility. Applying the old adage, "adapt and overcome," Capt. Wood uses the field-expedient, lawn-chair method at one of the more remote FOBs. After all its not what you do it with, but that you do it. (11/10/09)
Family grows while deployed Sgt. Maj. Timothy Bloom, 42, joined the Oregon National Guard in 1987 and has spent the majority of his career in the same infantry battalion, 2-162, in Eugene, Ore., (now located in Springfield). (11/10/09)
