Joint forces dental team treats 1,100 in Saint Marc, Haiti American and Canadian military dental personnel completed another Task Force Bon Voizen dental training exercise on June 8, at the Saint Nicolas Hospital in Saint Marc, Haiti. According to the Task Force Bon Voizen medical and dental exercise coordinator, U.S. Army Capt. David Bourgeois, Louisiana Army National Guard, the dental clinicians evaluated and treated approximately 1,100 patients during the 10-day mission. The purpose of the mission, according to Bourgeois, was to provide real-time, real-world training to joint-forces dental personnel, while concurrently providing humanitarian dental services to the citizens of the Artibonite Department, based on an invitation by the government of Haiti. 06.10.11 Story by Sgt. 1st Class Paul Meeker
Saint Marc citizens smile again … with new teeth Extracting teeth is a common dental procedure performed during military humanitarian dental training exercises, and the Task Force Bon Voizen dental mission at Saint Nicolas Hospital in Saint Marc, Haiti, was no exception. In fact, according to the mission’s coordinator Capt.
