The mortar platoon of Headquarters Headquarters Command 1-163 Combined Arms Battalion conducts live fire mortar training in Limestone Hills, Mont. on April 5, 2024 to build proficiency on the 120mm mortar systems. Forward Observers from the 148th Field Artillery Regiment worked with the mortar platoon to direct fires.
The Montana National Guard 1-189th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB) conducts large-scale combat operations training during Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) rotation at Fort Johnson, La., July through August, 2023. More than 2000 soldiers participated in this joint training, with Montana providing aviation support.
The Kalispell Range Riders invited 495th soldiers Sgt. Kalvin Taylor and Staff Sgt. Jeffery Lamoreaux to throw the first pitch of the game Saturday night at the Range Rider stadium. The 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion had vehicle displays and were able to enjoy the game with other fans.
First ever Montana Guardsman placed 13th at the 2023 Best Ranger Competition at Fort Benning, Georgia April 14 through 16. 2nd Lt. Nathanael LaCorte and teammate 1st Lt. Copeland Zaunbrecher's grit, determination, and stamina placed them in the top 25% of the competing Best Ranger teams.
