NEW ORLEANS- Soldiers from the 377th Theater Sustainment Command volunteered their personal time at the 15th Annual Forgotten Angels Christmas Party held at the University of New Orleans Human Performance Center, Sat., Dec. 8.

The Forgotten Angels program is sponsored by the Ozanam Inn, a nonprofit organization that serves the homeless community of New Orleans. This year, the organization provided food, toys and treats for more than 250 homeless families with children.

This was the first year that a group of 377th TSC soldiers participated in this event.

“This is the first year I have participated with this organization,” said Sgt. 1st Class Chandra Lebeaux. “I have volunteered with organizations, but I really wanted to be here to help these kids who have nothing, or a lot less, have a better Christmas.”

Lebeaux said she was excited to be working with the 377th TSC on this event; she wants people to see soldiers not only serving their country but their communities as well.

Clarence Adams, the administrator at Ozanam Inn and founder of the event, was excited to have a group of soldiers working this year.

“We had one soldier from your organization participate with us last year, and I am glad it has grown,” said Adams. “With you all participating our volunteer list grew, our donations grew and it’s great to see how much fun the soldiers are having with these children.”

Linda Lewis with the Armstrong Family Services in New Orleans had children from her organization participating in the event and said that they had a great time and it helped brighten their holiday.

“We have participated in this event before and it always helps the children,” said Lewis. “These children don’t have a lot and to see all these pople come together and make their Christmas better, just makes my heart feel good!”

The 377th TSC soldiers had a great time and plan on participating in this event again.

“I really enjoyed seeing all the children running around smiling,” said Lebeaux. “I will definitely be participating in this event again, this is what this season is all about.”
