6-9 Cav Troopers take part in CALFX Sgt. 1st Class Chris Bridson

A Full Range Practice Cartridge goes flying toward its objective from the tube of an M-121 Carrier Mounted 120mm Mortar. Soldiers from 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division conducted an immediate suppression mission firing 60 mortars with the use of three M1064A3 vehicles during a recent Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise, here, Dec. 1. FORT HOOd, Texas - Soldiers from 6th ‘Saber’ Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, conducted live fire training with the M-121 Carrier Mounted 120mm Mortar, here, Dec. 1.

The ‘Saber’ soldiers are taking part in a Combined Arms Live Fire Exercise, designed to test the capabilities of the individual crew members and also assess the “Greywolf” brigade before their upcoming rotation to the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, Calif.
