SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. - The holiday season is nigh and a fitting time for Team Schriever members to pledge their support for other through the Combined Federal Campaign.

Currently, Schriever personnel have already pledged and donated more than $175,000, which is more than 65 percent of the base's $265,000 goal. The campaign runs until Dec. 14

"This is the time of year when personal needs are even more magnified," said Tech. Sgt. Sarah Law, 50th Space Wing ground safety manager and Schriever CFC installation project officer. "Please take the time to put yourself in someone else's shoes, and do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

According to CFC Pikes Peak Region, the campaign is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign. Pledges made by federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support eligible nonprofit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.

"I believe that most of these organizations wouldn't exist without the support received from the CFC," said Senior Airman Allen Orozcocastaneda, 50th Comptroller Squadron and Schriever CFC finance officer. "A lot of their primary funding comes from this campaign and they depend on our donations."

The CFC's mission is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for others. The theme this year is "Get Your Give ON-Line" and it encourages Schriever personnel to donate online.

"We are all busy with the Consolidated Unit Inspection preparation but it only takes five to 10 minutes to give to a worthy cause," Law said.

There are various ways contributors can donate to charitable institutions through the CFC. With payroll deductions, contributors can give a little more over a longer period of time. One-time cash or check contributions may be made using the CFC NEXUS ON-Line or the traditional pledge form, while one-time credit card contributions can only be made using the online giving option. Don't forget to print out online pay forms required for payroll deduction and provide to your unit CFC contact.

"It doesn't matter how small the donation is as long as you can contribute. Last year for this region we raised more than $2 million," Orozcocastaneda said. "Every dollar counts and could help contribute to a cure for cancer, save the lives of neglected animals, help victims of natural disasters, and so much more."
