KABUL, Afghanistan - Leaders from Qall-e-moslim village and Task Force Centurion cut the ribbon during a ceremony marking the completion of a road construction project near Camp Julien.
Neither taxi car nor truck would travel a nearly impassable road nearby Camp Julien before a construction project supported by village elders, local construction workers and Task Force Centurion coordinated a project to completely pave and reform almost two miles of road making a long bumpy zigzag journey into a quick and smooth straightaway.
After four months of construction, the people of Qall-e-moslim realized the benefits of improvements in infrastructure.
“The town has already seen lots of development along side the road since the completion of the job,” Eng Khalid Tabarkhel, project manager said. “Farmers nearby now have an easier time getting their produce to market as well.”
The town sits just outside Camp Julien and has benefited from other developments. In the past five years, it has seen a clinic and a two-story school go up, he added. During the ceremony, residents thanked representatives from the task force and the local government.
