ARLINGTON, Va. - MCB Quantico is non-commissioned officer of the quarter, Sgt. Andrew Pontious, Headquarters and Service Battalion legal, administrative chief drove the pace car for the 37th annual Marine Corps Marathon starting at Arlington, Va. on Oct. 28.

“It’s such a great opportunity,” said Pontious. “I was able to see the race from a perspective I’ve never had the opportunity to see.”

This isn’t the first year Pontious has worked the Marathon. Last year he worked at a water point with the rest of the battalion.

“I’m looking forward to the entire experience,” said Pontious. “Being able to watch the leader the entire time and see the struggle they go through, it’s just going to be a motivating experience.”

Pontious won’t be the only one experiencing the race from the leader’s eye, Sgt. Maj. Michael Moore, Headquarters and Service Battalion sergeant major, will be riding in the passenger seat.

“We are both excited,” said Moore. “We have been given the opportunity to watch history as its happening. Nothing could be better than that.”
