GHAZNI, Afghanistan – Hundreds of villagers, security officials and Afghan Local Police gathered for the first ALP validation shura (meeting) at the Qara Bagh District Center, Qara Bagh district, Oct. 14.
The validation of ALP in Qara Bagh has been a four year journey for the officials who requested a solution to their security concerns.
“Today is a bright day for Qara Bagh district,” said District Governor Zayatullah Azimi. “The people have suffered from the Taliban, but today we see the Taliban defeated. They cannot freely roam this area anymore.”
The ALP, an action arm of the Afghan National Security Force, remains the village’s first line of defense and a primary security initiative to keep the Taliban out and families safe.
“Terrorism is against all people, not a specific group of people,” said Deputy Provincial Governor Mohammad Ali Akmedhi. “They do not want security. They don’t want Afghan children to get an education.”
District officials say, with the support of the community, the added security in the villages will allow local families to prosper both in terms of education and economy.
“Now it is your responsibility to continue to support the ALP,” said Akmedhi. “The ALP gives you opportunities and a good future for your sons.”
