    BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed two insurgents, detained six, located two weapons caches and cleared seven improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Oct. 16.

    Ghazni province
    Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared three IEDs, two in Qarah Bagh district and one in Gelan district.

    Kapisa province
    Afghan National Army soldiers found and safely cleared an IED in Nejrab district.

    Khowst province
    Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Shamal district.

    Logar province
    Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained two insurgents while investigating a weapons cache in Muhammad Aghah district. The cache contained IED-making materials. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

    A coalition airstrike killed two insurgents who were emplacing an IED in Pul-E Alam district. After the airstrike, Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces investigated the site and detained four insurgents with IED-making materials. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

    Paktya province
    Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Zurmat district. The cache contained IED making materials.

    Wardak province
    Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Sayyidabad district.

    Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
