QUANTICO, Va. - The Marine Corps Recruiting Command (MCRC) is pleased to announce the date and location of the 2013 Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl. This nationally televised bowl, featuring the nation’s best and brightest high school football players, will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., at 6:00 p.m. (PST) on Jan. 4, 2013.

The main objective of the Semper Fidelis Football Program is to provide Marines with opportunities to purposefully engage well-rounded student athletes in order to share Marine Corps leadership lessons that will enable future success. The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl is the culmination of a series of youth football camps and a nationwide All-American player selection tour that collectively celebrate academic excellence, proven physical fitness, and quality of character.

“The Semper Fidelis Football Program is an extension of the Marine Corps’ commitment to developing quality citizens and serving our communities,” said Major General Joseph L. Osterman, Commanding General, MCRC. “The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl provides an opportunity for our Marines to connect on a personal level with the players and their influencers and reinforces how our core values of honor, courage and commitment relate to success on and off the field.”

The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl is designed to be different than other Bowls. The players selected to represent the eastern and western halves of the country will be chosen not only because they are among the most talented players in the nation, but also because they bring something more to the game.

“The commitment these players have demonstrated to their education, the leadership they have shown in their school and community, and the courage they have displayed in choosing a positive life path makes them an inspiration and worthy to be seen on a national stage,” said Osterman. “The title Marine is ‘Earned, Never Given.’ There are thousands of skilled football players in the country we could select to play in our Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, but we are only offering this opportunity to the best players with high moral character who demonstrate leadership in all aspects of their lives.”

Leading up to the NFL Network’s nationally televised Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl, 100 players will be hand-picked during the All-American player selection tour. Players will be announced between October and December.
