News: ISAF Joint Command morning operational update

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban financier in Zurmat district, Paktiya province, today.
The financier extorted money and supplies from local villagers to fund Taliban operations. He also directed improvised explosive device attacks throughout the district.
During the operation, the security force also detained multiple suspected insurgents and seized several firearms.

North
An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to arrest a Taliban leader in Chimtal district, Balkh province, today. The Taliban leader is responsible for conducting numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in eastern Chimtal. During the operation, the security force detained two suspected insurgents.
South
In Jani Khel district, Paktiya province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to find a group of armed insurgents, today. During the operation, the security force engaged a large group of heavily armed insurgents with a precision airstrike. After the strike, the Afghan and coalition force conducted a follow-on assessment and confirmed several insurgents had been killed. They also confirmed the strike had not injured any civilians or damaged any civilian property.
