FORT HOOD, Texas - Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier who died, July 28, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Harker Heights, Texas.
Sgt. Timothy Robert Stephens, 28, whose home of record is McMinnville, Ore., entered active duty service in October 2004 as a fire support specialist. He arrived at Fort Hood in March 2006 and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since October 2005.
Stephens deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2006 to December 2007 and December 2008 to November 2009. He also deployed in support of Operation New Dawn from February 2011 to November 2011.
Stephens awards and decorations include four Army Commendation Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle.
