BOSTON — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 53-year-old man from a fishing vessel approximately 17 miles east of Nantucket, Mass., Monday.
Watchstanders from the Sector Southeastern New England command center received a call at 3:38 a.m. from the 78-foot fishing vessel Hustler, reporting that a 53-year-old man aboard was experiencing chest pains.
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter crew immediately launched to assist.
The man was safely hoisted from the Hustler to the helicopter and taken to Cape Cod Hospital in Barnstable Town, Mass.
"Coast helicopters crews are trained to respond in an array of weather conditions to mariners in distress," said Lt. Scott Koser, an Air Station Cape Cod public affairs officer. "In this case we worked closely with medical services to coordinate a successful operation."
