HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - The Afghan National Army's 215th Corps recently conducted cleanup operations in the Musa Qala and Gamsir districts. In Musa Qala, these operations resulted in four insurgents being killed and the discovery of a cache of munitions comprising 15 types of mine.

The mines were safely disarmed in a secure area and no longer pose a threat to local civilians. In the Gamsir district an operation lasting 7 days resulted in the arrest of a suspicious individual and capture of their weapon and munitions.

Also today, the Afghan National Army completed a partnered patrol with coalition forces. Upon receiving a tip from a local national, the security forces discovered a major cache of IED device components, along with 200 pounds of homemade explosives and a rocket. All of the items found were safely handed over to law enforcement professionals.
