Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa

CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti – Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Roy visited airmen assigned to Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa and other tenant commands here, May 5-6.

The primary purpose of the visit was to speak to the airmen deployed here and gain insight into their health and well-being. During his stop Roy also visited with CJTF-HOA senior leadership and toured various Air Force units located at Camp Lemonnier.

“As I talked to airmen, they are excited about being here,” said Roy. “They think that this is a worthwhile deployment—one that continues to help in our national security and [they] are proud of what they do each and every day.”

To help make his assessment, Roy had breakfast with a select group of junior enlisted personnel, lunch with a small group of non-commissioned officers and then held an Air Force all-call at Camp Lemonnier’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation facility 11 Degrees North.

Roy used each of those opportunities to interact with the airmen to address their concerns and share information regarding the Air Force directly from the top.

“It was nice to be able to sit down with someone who plays such a big role in the enlisted Air Force and be able to talk one-on-one and ask questions,” said Senior Airman Jessica Dunahoo, a CJTF-HOA computer technician.

Roy expressed his own impression of the airmen serving in today’s Air Force, both at home and abroad.

“I can tell you that I couldn’t be prouder of our airmen,” he said. “They are in the fight today and they are making a difference in the battle space.”
