BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan - The general director of the anti-terrorism prosecution directorate for the Afghan National Security Forces met with the command staff of Combined Joint Task Force Paladin here Thursday as a part of a key leader engagement at the Combined Joint Task Force Paladin headquarters.

Afghan Maj. Gen. Sayed Noorullah Sadat oversees all Afghan national security cases and is responsible for the signing of all warrants issued by the Afghan government related to terrorist activity and oversees all Afghan prosecutors in Parwan province.

“The purpose of today's key leader engagement was to continue the relationship we have worked to reestablish with the prosecution directorate within the MOI,” said the CJTF Paladin theater explosives exploitation officer Army Maj. Ryan W. Loomis. “We visited Maj. Sadat and Col. Heydayatullah at their office in Kabul previously to introduce ourselves and establish a point of contact for someone to sign the Afghan national warrants we help script based upon biometric matches to known IED facilitators.”

The visit included a meeting with the commander of CJTF Paladin, Col. Leo E. Bradley, and with the Paladin command staff. During the meeting, Sadat praised the relationship between his people and that current CJTF Paladin lab in investigating and pursuing individuals who perpetrate improvised explosives device-related crimes.

We are very lucky that our prosecutors have such a good relationship with the lab here, said Sadat. The evidence analyzed by the Paladin lab has directly contributed to the capture of IED criminals around the country.

During the visit, Sadat and his staff were given the opportunity to tour CJTF Paladin’s Bagram Afghanistan Captured Material Exploitation (ACME) lab, which focuses on compiling and analyzing forensic evidence related to IED attacks.

“The lab tour allowed Maj. Gen. Sadat to see our exploitation capabilities and ask questions regarding the actual processes from the resident experts within the lab,” said Loomis.

“This meeting was extremely important for the mission here,” said Loomis. “Maj. Gen. Sadat left stating that he had learned immensely from this trip and gained new friendships. He introduced us to his prosecutors and explained his trip to Paladin to them stressing the fact that they need to work closer with the TEX and to come to us if they have issues.”

Maj. Gen Sadat also left with a better understanding of our capabilities and the support we could provide to his prosecutors, said Loomis.

“It is important for us to continue to work with you to reinforce and support the Afghan government because this is your country,” said Bradley during the meeting.

CJTF Paladin is responsible for theater-wide coalition counter-IED operations including training, explosive ordnance disposal, and evidence gathering and analysis to aid in the prosecution of IED perpetrators.
