FORT KNOX, Ky. - U.S. Army NASCAR Racing driver Ryan Newman captured his first win of the season at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, Sunday, April 1.

The driver of the No. 39 Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet made a daring pass to take the lead during a late-race, multi-car incident in the Goody's Fast Relief 500 and he went on to capture his 16th career Sprint Cup victory.

While Newman was celebrating in victory lane on the east coast, U.S. Army NHRA Racing Top Fuel pilots Tony "The Sarge" Schumacher and Antron Brown were racing down The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals.

Brown lost in the finals to his other Don Schumacher Racing teammate Spencer Massey. The New Jersey native laid down a respectable 3.849-second pass at 315.86 mph, but it wasn't enough to overcome Massey's 3.830-second run at 323.89 mph.

Schumacher, a seven-time world champion, lost a close quarterfinal round race to Brown following a wild first round win over Troy Buff when the rear tires on his U.S. Army dragster lost traction.

Newman, who moved up to eighth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup standings, will now have Easter weekend off before traveling to Texas Motor Speedway, Sunday, April 15th, for the Samsung Mobile 500.

Brown, who regained the Top Fuel point lead, and Schumacher, in fourth, will also enjoy the holiday weekend before heading to Charlotte, April 13-15, for the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals.
