CAMP GRAFTON TRAINING CENTER, DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — Furthering their commitment to serving military members throughout the state, management and staff from the Camp Grafton Training Center’s Military Service Club made a generous donation to the North Dakota National Guard Foundation during a ceremony at Camp Grafton, March 17.

The club’s manager, Rainy Pierce, presented a check for $1,000 to Maj. Gen. David Sprynczynatyk, North Dakota adjutant general. Pierce has overseen the club’s operations since November 2010 and her husband, Staff Sgt. Jason Pierce, both of Devils Lake, serves full time at the 164th Regional Training Institute. Profits from the service club are invested back into the military community.

“This donation assists our mission of providing support to those military members in need,” said Sprynczynatyk. “The staff of our Military Service Club provide great services to the soldiers and airmen who work and visit Camp Grafton.

The Military Service Club is open year-round to students who attend military courses at the 164th RTI, the military members who visit for training as well as the Guard members assigned to Camp Grafton.

Recent improvements to the facility, including new televisions, tables and chairs and a computerized sales receipt system, have made the club more efficient and comfortable for customers. Despite fluctuating student numbers at the 164th RTI and recent state active-duty mobilizations to support flood operations this spring and summer, the club has been financially sound. Its continual financial growth allows for service upgrades for military members.

North Dakota National Guard members and their families are supported by programs offered through the North Dakota National Guard Foundation, which includes the North Dakota Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors and the North Dakota National Guard Emergency Relief Fund.

ND-TAPS supports the national TAPS initiative. The funds are used to assist with transportation costs for families of fallen service members as they travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in the annual national TAPS program on Memorial Day weekend.

The North Dakota National Guard ERF program provides financial support in sudden and unforeseen emergency situations for North Dakota National Guard members and their families, who may be facing illness, accident recovery, fire, theft or natural disasters.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, the North Dakota National Guard Foundation has no paid employees and hires no professional fundraisers. It relies on volunteer assistance and donations from those concerned about military members and their families.
