    Defense Contract Management Agency

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Defense Contract Management Agency Lockheed Martin Sunnyvale employees participating in the Keystone intern program recently sat down with agency Director Charlie E. Williams, Jr., to discuss their experiences and listen to his views on training and the importance of Keystones to DCMA.

“Our new employees are extremely important to the organization and our future,” said Williams. “We need a robust Keystone program to supply us with future leaders in key positions. We are pushing our retirement bubble and need to ensure we are training and preparing new employees to be successful.”

Keystone employees shared ideas with the director about capturing and sharing their experiences for future Keystone participants. They also discussed incorporating more hands-on training into the process so classroom training would be immediately reinforced at their office. Participants said they felt their experiences so far had prepared them for future responsibilities.

Williams reinforced their ideas saying, “Your training should be credible and certifiable … training that prepares you for the future.”

In his closing remarks to the group, Williams said, “I always tell folks not to get ahead of themselves. Your most important job is the one you have at this moment – what you learn now will prepare you for the future. If you don’t take the time to learn your job, it will show as you assume more responsibility.”

Following the Keystone roundtable, Williams spoke at the DCMA LM Sunnyvale all-hands and participated in a ceremony recognizing key employees.

“It was an honor to have the agency director at our contract management office for the first time,” said Air Force Col. Henry Pandes, DCMA LM Sunnyvale commander. “It is a special day when the agency commander is able to speak to and honor our employees.

Pandes said in addition to meeting employees the director, “had the unique opportunity to walk the manufacturing floor and witness some of the important work going on at the Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company campus.”
