    KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan-led and coalition-supported security force discovered a weapons cache during an operation in Bati Kot district, Nangarhar province, Tuesday.

    The cache consisted of two anti-tank mines, heavy machine gun ammunition and multiple improvised explosive device-making components.

    The cache was destroyed on-site without incident.

    Two suspected insurgents were detained by Afghan security forces for further questioning.

    South

    An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, today. The leader directed roadside bomb attacks against Afghan forces throughout the district. One additional suspected insurgent was detained during the operation.

    East

    In Darah-ye district, Kunar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a drug cache during a patrol yesterday. The cache consisted of approximately 880 pounds (400 kg) of hashish. Security forces destroyed all drugs on-site without incident.
