FARGO, N.D. - After deploying with Kosovo Force 12 in August 2009, the North Dakota National Guard's Sgt. Josh Dodds is returning to North Dakota after a 29-month deployment. Dodds, of Grand Forks, N.D., has spent the past two years serving as part of the NATO peacekeeping operations after volunteering to extend his original Kosovo deployment. The North Dakota contingency that led KFOR 12 arrived home in North Dakota in August 2010.

Dodds served as a journalist for KFOR 12 and 13. During KFOR 15, Dodds served as an administrative assistant in Film City for the chief of staff. In that position, his duties included drafting letters to military and international organizations, as well as tracking all documents, supplies and computer systems. He also worked as an operations non-commissioned officer toward the end of his deployment.

Dodds will arrive on Delta Airlines Flight Number 4491 in Grand Forks and is expected to arrive at 6:55 p.m. Jan. 25. Please check http://www.delta.com/traveling_checkin/flight_status_updates/index.jsp for the most current flight updates.

According to Dodds, he was asked to extend a few months longer to train new individuals to take his position due to his lengthy and varied experience in Kosovo. While serving on his deployment, he worked with 30 different nations from across the globe.

The KFOR 12 mission was the single largest mobilization for the North Dakota National Guard since the Korean War. Capt. Shane Clennon, of West Fargo, is the only remaining individual from KFOR12 that is still serving in Kosovo.

Currently, 55 North Dakota soldiers with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 1st Battalion, 112th Aviation Regiment (Security and Support) are deployed to Kosovo as part of Kosovo Force (KFOR) 15.
