News: Commanding general at Fort Leonard Wood to receive second star

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. – A promotion ceremony for Brig. Gen. Mark W. Yenter, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m., Jan. 18, in the Engineer Regimental Room, John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex.
Yenter will be promoted to the rank of major general.
Maj. Gen. Merdith W.B. Temple, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, acting chief of engineers and acting commander, is scheduled to preside over the ceremony.
Yenter officially took command of the installation Sept. 23, 2011, and was nominated for appointment to the rank of major general July 2011.
Prior to coming to Fort Leonard Wood, Yenter served in Afghanistan, where he worked with the U.S. Army Engineer Division, Trans-Atlantic (Forward) U.S. Forces-Afghanistan as the director and commander of the Joint Engineering Directorate.
