SAR-E PUL PROVINCE, Afghanistan - Afghan Local Police, in conjunction with the district development shura, distributed humanitarian aid supplies to local Afghans in Sayad district, Jan. 12.

The ALP distributed beans, rice, cooking oil, and clothing to three villages designated by the development shura as needing assistance. The supplies were provided by the government of Afghanistan. The delivery was only the first portion of more than 100,000 pounds designated for Sayad district. The rest of the supplies will be distributed by the ALP in the near future.

In total, more than 80 needy families in three different villages received aid.

“This district needed help, and the Afghan government responded to their request,” said a coalition special operations forces advisor. “The people now know that their government can, and will, provide essential services to them.”
