    BAGRAM AIRFIELD, Afghanistan— The 173rd Infantry Brigade, Task Force Black Scarves, officially assumed responsibility and operations in Andar and Deh Yak Districts from Task Force Ramrod, 3/1 Brigade Combat Team, in a transfer of authority ceremony Jan. 3.

    Several high-ranking U.S. and Polish officials and Afghan dignitaries attended in the ceremony to include U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Daniel Allyn, Regional Command-East and Combined Joint Task Force-1 commanding general.

    During the ceremony, Task Force White Eagle commander Brig. Gen. Piotr Blazeusz, showed his appreciation for the commitment and execution of tasks that Task Force Ramrod showed during its service in Afghanistan.

    “I would like to thank you [Task Force Ramrod] for your good work as a part of Task Force White Eagle,” Blazeusz said. “Today we welcome soldiers of Black Scarves.”

    U.S. Army Lt. Col. Alan C. Streeter, Task Force Ramrod commander, summarized his unit’s time in the province, “Thank you to all our Afghan partners, Polish comrades and American friends who fought shoulder-to-shoulder to [provide security to] the people of eastern Ghazni.”

    U.S. Army Lt. Col. Earl B. Higgins Jr., Task Force Black Scarves commander appreciated the welcome from TF White Eagle and TF Ramrod and also stated the unit’s willingness to continue the efforts of the outgoing task force.
