    KABUL, Afghanistan — During an operation in search of an insurgent leader in Marjeh district, Helmand province yesterday, a combined Afghan and coalition security force killed two insurgents and detained one suspected insurgent.

    The targeted insurgent network is responsible for supplying lethal aid used in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

    The suspected insurgent was detained and taken for processing and further questioning.

    South

    During the operation in search of an insurgent leader in Baghran district, Helmand province, in an area believed to be used for narcotics production and trafficking, a combined Afghan and coalition security force patrol killed numerous insurgents and wounded two other insurgents, yesterday. The insurgents engaged the security force with small arms fire. Assessing an immediate threat the patrol returned fire, killing the insurgents. The two wounded insurgents were given medical treatment and detained for further questioning. The security for also discovered a narcotics cache consisting of 264 pounds (120 kilograms) of opium which was safely destroyed on site.

    West

    In Bala Boluk district, Farah province today, a coalition patrol discovered and seized a weapons cache consisting of three rifles, four grenades, anti personnel mines and several ammunition.
