    KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and International Security Assistance Force patrol detained numerous suspected insurgents during an operation targeting an insurgent leader in Khas district, Uruzgan province, yesterday.

    The leader coordinates improvised explosive device attacks against ANSF and coalition forces in the area.

    The detainees were taken in by Afghan Security Forces for further questioning.

    In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

    South

    In Shinkai district, Zabul province, today, a coalition force patrol discovered and seized an IED cache consisting of several IED-making material and more than 300 pounds (136 kgs) of homemade explosives. Coalition forces will safely destroy the cache at a later date.

    East

    A combined Afghan and coalition patrol detained several suspected insurgents during two separate operations targeting insurgent leaders in Kabul district, Kabul province, yesterday. The leaders are responsible for conducting complex IED attacks against ANSF and coalition forces. The detainees were taken in by Afghan Security Forces for further questioning.

    West

    In Pusht-e Rod district, Farah province, a combined Afghan and coalition force patrol discovered and seized a weapons cache, today. The cache consisted of 13 rocket propelled grenades, 16 mortar fins, 35 7.62mm rounds, an AK 47, one 120mm mortar round, one mine, two radios and various IED-making materials. The cache will be safely destroyed at a later date.
