    KABUL, Afghanistan – A combined Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Force operation led to the discovery and seizure of a drug cache in Maiwand District, Kandahar province, yesterday.

    The combined force seized 772 pounds (350 kilograms) of dry opium and detained several insurgents during the operation.

    All drugs were safely destroyed on site.

    South

    In Zharay District, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition force patrol discovered a weapons cache consisting of four 155mm rounds and five 82mm recoilless rifle rounds. The patrol seized all munitions.

    Also in Zharay District, Kandahar province today, a combined Afghan and coalition force discovered and seized a drug cache consisting of 132 pounds (60 kgs) of opium.

    East

    In Muhammad Aghah district, Logar province, today, an Afghan National Security Force patrol discovered a weapons cache. The cache consisted of three rocket propelled grenade launchers, five rocket propelled grenade rounds, seven mines, approximately 50 feet of detonation cord, four radio adapters, two remote controls, one global positioning system and three 36-inch antennas. All munitions and items were seized by the ANSF patrol.
